Germany's electric car market is forecast to see a huge boost in 2025 and regain its European sales crown

With Germany's new pure electric passenger car market disintegrating during 2024, witnessing not only new volumes fall by more than a quarter (-27.4% y/y or 143,610 fewer units than in 2023), finishing the year with 380,609 new units, it fell behind the UK – high on the first year of the ZEV mandate introduction – and faced the ignominy of not being the region's largest market for the first time in half a decade. However, the latest industry forecasts suggest a major rebound in 2025, as a cyclical cycle returns positively, is just around the corner.
