Product Details

Edition No. 12 2024 (Full Year 2024) European Electric Car Study – West European Electric Passenger Car Market Trend Study covering the period January - December 2024

"Backed by an eruption of fresh, compact, and semi-affordable models derived from raw material price tailwinds, battery chemistries (LFP) and scaling benefits, baby-BEVs such as Citroën's ëC3, Fiat's Grande Panda, Hyundai's Inster and Renault's 4/5, among others, are finally set to arrive like spring flowers shooting out of a frosty 2024 undergrowth. They aim to break the permafrost that has engulfed the private market for pure EVs and give manufacturers such as Stellantis and Renault a chance to meet key regulatory environmental targets that sharpen from 2025. Equally important, price-sensitive Southern European markets require the electric shock treatment to give those exposed there a chance of complying with CAFE targets as their CO2 emissions remain stubbornly high. Consumers across Italy and Spain will therefore become increasingly paramount from this year. The two European giants have largely shunned BEVs up until now, partly due to Grande pricing! Vanishing subsidies won't help, though, and will likely result in a price crash as the year progresses. However, the market is patiently awaiting the result of a last-minute call to derail the regulatory targets, which would slam on the brakes. Results expected March 5th."

Automotive market intelligence study aimed at the automotive industry stakeholders and strategic planners, policymakers and all those with a holistic vested interest in the industry and the direction it's heading in.
